The only way I could eat dark chocolate as a kid was with mint, After Eights were something to get really excited about because you can’t really buy them in a snack amount.
It was usually around Christmas too which just adds to the fond memories I have of them.
The reason I tried making them however was purely out of ease – and having some spare Dark Chocolate which I knew I wouldn’t use for months.
I’m sure the After Eight recipe has changed over the years as the last packet I bought the centre was a lot drier than I remember.
When you make them yourself it can be as gooey as you like.
I think these are the easiest but most rewarding things I’ve ever made.
Keep them nice and cool to get the best crack as you bite into them.
I made some chocolate goodie bags for Christmas and the grown ups loved these. The kids preferred the Marshmallow.
